As the need for web design is slowly becoming greater, more people are jumping on the bandwagon to start designing websites themselves. For expert designers, the ins and outs of web design are clearly not a challenge for them anymore. But for beginners, the world of web design may seem daunting and huge. To avoid getting confused and coming up with a poorly designed website despite your potential as a budding web designer, you need first to know the things that matter the most in web design. These are content, layout and design, and navigation schemes. Content There is, however, an important thing to remember besides the information on your website. If content is king, then keyword is key. You have to use the right keywords, and place it strategically in your content and all over your website. The keywords have to frequently show up in your site for it to matter to the search engines. View more website design and development resources. Layout and design An effective layout and design of a website should be consistent all throughout the site. A website should have one look and feel that is sustained through all its elements and pages. For example, use one set of fonts and only work within that set. Text with the same purposes should have the same fonts. If you have plenty of lists in your website, make sure that they appear in the same format. If you want to use tables or dropdown menus, use them consistently. Finally, colors affect a website’s overall appeal. Use one set of colors that look good together. Make sure that the colors also work in coordination with your font colors. With a visually appealing site, your visitors are sure to stay. Navigation schemes If you give importance to the three factors above as you design a website, the more chances you have of creating a site that is highly successful and visited. |
